Piedmont Athens (Ga.) Regional Medical Center will lay off 95 environmental services department employees, effective June 2, according to an April 2 WARN notice.
The hospital is part of Atlanta-based Piedmont, a health system that comprises 25 hospitals, according to its LinkedIn page.
The affected employees include 69 environmental services department attendants, 11 floor attendants, seven linen distributors, five shift supervisors, a department assistant and a director of environmental services, according to a letter from the hospital’s executive director of human resources that was submitted with the WARN notice.
“Since this transition impacts the entire environmental services department, employees will be treated the same regardless of tenure, which means there are no bumping rights for who retains a position,” the notice said.
All 95 employees will receive an employment offer from Level Seven Commercial Cleaning, with which the hospital is expanding its service agreement.
“We look forward to continuing to work with both current and new team members to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff,” a spokesperson for Piedmont said in an April 7 statement shared with Becker’s.
