Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Ga., will close its Fairmount (Ga.) Family Medicine clinic due to unsustainable patient volumes.

This year, Fairmount Family Medicine treated an average of 10 patients per day, with less than half of those patients being permanent Fairmount residents, according to GordonHospital officials. Industry standards call for clinics to see between 25 and 30 patients daily, reports Northwest Georgia News.

In a prepared statement, Gordon Hospital COO Brandon Nudd said, “We’ve adjusted our business model and made every imaginable accommodation, but we are extremely disappointed that it is simply not a viable option for GordonHospital.”

The clinic is slated to close Oct. 1.
