FSU College of Medicine receives $3M grant to support pediatric stress research

Tallahassee-based Florida State University College of Medicine received a $3 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to advance research on pediatric stress in the children of rural and migrant farm-workers.

The five-year grant will support efforts to develop and validate treatments and interventions to mitigate childhood traumatic stress.

"Children in rural areas face a number of challenges in getting treatment for behavioral and emotional problems, including availability of such services, accessibility and acceptability. In addition, migrant families are impacted by a scarcity of linguistically and culturally appropriate services." said Javier Rosado, PhD, FSU College of Medicine's clinical associate professor and co-director of the grant project.
