The project, which will provide medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical specialists and support services, was going to be built on the hospital’s main campus on West Seventh Street in Frederick where an emergency department expansion and new outpatient lobby are currently being built, according to the report. However, the hospital contended in the report that building the project off campus at its Rose Hill location will save $7 million in construction costs and be more convenient for patients.

As of early this week, individuals, businesses and area foundations had already committed $9.5 million toward the project, which has had a projected cost of $20 million, according to the report. There is currently a $15 million fundraising goal.

A timeline for the construction process is set to be released later in 2015.
