For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Sept. 5-8

Four of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices fall last week.

Among the major for-profit hospital operators, Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the greatest decrease in share price at 9.1 percent.

Here is how the five operators stacked up, as of Sept. 8.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $7.15 per share (down 9.1 percent)
  • HCA Healthcare (Nashville, Tenn.): $77.05 per share (down 2.1 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $55.70 per share (down 3.8 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $16.57 per share (down 8.6 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $110.50 per share (up 1.3 percent)
