For-profit hospital stock report: Week of March 14-18

Four of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 3.3 percent last week.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health saw their share prices rise 0.7 percent last week, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw its share price fall last week.

Here is how the five operators' stock prices stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $16.30 per share (down 0.1 percent)
  • Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.): $75.46 per share (up 0.7 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $66.28 per share (up 0.7 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $28.14 per share (up 3.3 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $116.65 per share (up 0.8 percent)
