For-profit hospital stock report: Week of July 27-31

Three of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices increase last week.

Shares of King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services were up 3.13 percent last week, the most of any of the for-profit hospital operators.

Two operators — Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. — saw their stock prices fall last week.

Here is how the five operators stack up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $58.51 per share (up 0.34 percent).
  • Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.): $93.01 per share (up 0.19 percent).
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $82.86 per share (down 1.25 percent).
  • Tenet Healthcare Corp. (Dallas): $56.30 per share (down 2.29 percent).
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $145.45 per share (up 3.13 percent).
