For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Feb. 8-12

All five of the major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices fall last week.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the largest decrease in share price, with shares falling 8.2 percent last week.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America saw its share price fall 4.6 percent last week, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Here is how the five operators' stock prices stacked up last week.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $18.68 per share (down 8.2 percent)
  • Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.): $66.01 per share (down 4.6 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $63.93 per share (down 6.7 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $23.95 per share (down 7.6 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $104.26 per share (down 5 percent)
