For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Dec. 5-9

Three of the major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health each saw their shares rise 4.8 percent.

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings saw its share price rise 4.2 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services and Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare saw their share prices fall.

Here is how the five operators stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $5.73 per share (up 4.8 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $73.25 per share (up 4.2 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $56.90 per share (up 4.8 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $15.18 per share (down 0.5 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $112.07 per share (down 10.1 percent)
