Fitch downgrades Community Health Systems’ rating to ‘B’

Fitch Ratings has downgraded Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems’ issuer default rating to “B,” affecting $15.6 billion of debt outstanding as of June 30, 2016.

The downgrade is based on numerous factors, including CHS’ operational challenges and lower acuity patient volumes.
