Federation of American Hospitals Lobbying Totals $685k in 3Q

The Federation of American Hospitals, which represents for-profit and investor-owned hospitals and health systems, spent $685,000 on federal lobbying in the third quarter of 2011, according to a CBS News report.

This total was up 12 percent from the $610,000 the FAH spent in the same quarter of 2010, according to the report. It was also up 20 percent from its second quarter lobbying figures.

FAH lobbied on issues such as federal medical liability laws, penalties for hospitals on preventable readmission and other parts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
