Four things to know:
1. Including Feb. 22, Kansas City, Mo.-based EmpowerHMS has failed to pay the hospital’s workers three times in the last three months.
2. Hospital employees also noted issues with benefits, such as medical insurance and retirement accounts. Staff told KJRH they continue to be charged for benefits that are not good anymore.
3. The city of Fairfax confirmed it is trying to take control of the hospital from EmpowerHMS and find an investor, but EmpowerHMS has been unresponsive, city officials told the news station.
4. A phone message left at EmpowerHMS has not been returned.
