East Connecticut Health Cancels Purchase of Johnson Memorial

East Connecticut Health Network canceled a deal to purchase Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, Conn., according to a report by the Hartford Courant.

ECHN cited drops in patient volume and revenue at Johnson as well as difficulty in receiving financial data from the hospital as reasons for the cancellation.

The deal called for ECHN to assume up to $45 million in debt from Johnson Memorial and invest up to $20 million for capital improvements.
