Dominion is a 10-physician group serving Roanoke-based Carilion Clinic, an eight-hospital health system with facilities throughout western Virginia. Dominion is responsible for about 200,000 procedures and approximately 17,000 patient visits annually.

Douglas J. Grider, MD, president of the practice, said McKesson plans to conduct a systematic market assessment on behalf of Dominion Pathology Associates to help pinpoint ways to continue referral growth, according to a news release.

“We certainly welcome their [McKesson’s] input when it comes to developing a plan to grow the practice,” Dr. Grider said in a prepared statement. “In a market like ours, we’re constantly working to identify the best path forward. McKesson’s experience with pathology practices facing similar market conditions nationwide will provide us with perspective we wouldn’t otherwise have access to.”
