This comes one day after the state’s Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell said he would not agree to pass any Medicaid expansion bill unless the state reformed its budget and the federal government gave greater assurance to guarantee its ability to fund its share of the expansion.
If the measure passed, Gov. McDonnell would be the eighth Republican governor to expand Medicaid under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
