Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours closed the hospital in early 2021 and consolidated its acute care and emergency services to Portsmouth, Va.-based Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.

“Demolition activities will include sorting and recycling of materials,” the post said. “All hazardous material abatement and disposal is being conducted by trained and certified professionals in strict accordance with local, state and federal regulations.”

Next Step to Success, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for teenagers, is the hospital’s current owner. Following the demolition, the organization will build the St. Vincent de Paul House, which will take two years to construct. The new campus will comprise learning houses, a dining hall, a gymnasium, gardens, and a regulation-size soccer field, according to the organization’s website

Bon Secours did not have a comment for Becker’s.
