In the quarter ended March 31, the cancer institute recorded an operating loss of $16.1 million. Last year, the cancer institute posted a $14.3 million operating loss.
In the second quarter of fiscal 2021, Dana-Farber saw its revenue year over year grow 4.6 percent to $507.8 million. The cancer institute also saw its patient revenue grow 6.7 percent year over year in the second quarter to $362 million.
The health system’s expenses also rose in the second quarter of fiscal 2021 to $523.8 million, up from $500 million recorded in the same quarter last year.
After factoring investment gains, Dana-Farber recorded a net income of $67.3 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2021. In the same period last year, Dana Farber saw a net loss of $118.1 million.
