Only three of the positions are based in Massachusetts and the other 180 are remote employees that report to a Massachusetts manager, a spokesperson for CVS Health said in a March 6 statement shared with Becker’s.
“We remain committed to supporting these colleagues, who will receive severance pay and benefits, including access to outplacement services,” the spokesperson said.
The layoffs come after CVS Health shared plans in October 2024 to lay off 416 employees at Aetna’s Hartford, Conn., headquarters. Ninety-three of the employees worked at the Hartford facility and the other employees worked remotely.
The company also shared plans to cut 2,900 employees in September 2024 who served in mainly corporate roles. The layoffs were part of a $2 billion cost-cutting initiative at the company.
