The non-profit, 506-bed hospital became the second tax-exempt institution to offer voluntary payments to help Syracuse. Last year, Syracuse University officials agreed to pay $500,000 per year over five years.
Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner sent a letter earlier this month to five of the city’s tax-exempt organizations to petition for the voluntary payments.
“I believe our local efforts will not be complete until we as a community demonstrate that ALL our major non-profit institutions are adopting the same bold thinking we are asking Albany to consider,” she wrote, according to the report.
