Coventry Health Care Finalizes Acquisition of Children’s Mercy Hospital Health Plan

Health insurer Coventry Health Care, based in Bethesda, Md., officially acquired Children’s Mercy’s Family Health Partners, a Medicaid plan that was operated by Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., according to a Coventry (pdf) news release.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Additionally, Children’s Mercy Hospital and Coventry have entered into a “contractual partnership” that will deliver hospital and physician services to Coventry members, according to the release.

Coventry now serves roughly 900,000 Medicaid beneficiaries across 10 states.
