Connecticut health system has ‘highly problematic’ 16 days of cash on hand

Bristol (Conn.) Health has reported 16.89 days of cash on hand as of May 31, 22 percent below budget.

The health system, which operates 20 locations anchored by Bristol Hospital, is predicting a slow improvement back up to 28.28 DCOH as of April 30, 2024.

“Any provider with 16 days of cash on hand is in an exceptionally thin liquidity position, making any interruption to cash flow (particularly near a debt service payment) highly problematic,” Kevin Holloran, senior director at Fitch Ratings, told Becker’s
