CCMC, in addition to the Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group, said negotiations fell through due to the commercial payor’s “failure to provide adequate rate increases,” according to the report. In a statement, Anthem officials said the hospital “is being paid commensurate with other like institutions both locally and nationally. Anthem’s current payments to the hospital more than cover its costs and allow the hospital to earn a significant profit.”
Patients who need services through CCMC’s emergency department will not be affected, but other patients will see higher out-of-network premiums.
