CMS to Discuss ICD-10 Conversion in National Teleconference

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will discuss its ICD-10 conversion process during a national teleconference on May 18, according to an AHA News Now report.

The teleconference, designed for fee-for-service providers, will include discussions on a case study describing the transition from the ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM diagnosis code set for lab national coverage determinations. The conference will also address updates on claims spanning the ICD-10 implementation date.

Hospitals will be expected to use the ICD-10 coding system on Medicare claims beginning Oct. 1, 2013.
