CMS: Some physicians to temporarily experience ‘doc fix’ payment cuts

CMS announced Wednesday some physicians will continue to experience a temporary 21 percent pay cut, even though Congress finalized the repeal of Medicare’s ‘doc fix’ in plenty of time Tuesday night, according to The Hill.

The passage of the bill means the 21 percent payment cuts should end. However, as CMS updates its system some providers will still experience the pay cuts temporarily. These providers will later be reimbursed when CMS updates its systems and is able to re-process their claims, according to the report.

“It takes a couple days to update our systems,” CMS spokesman Aaron Albright said in an email to The Hill. An estimate for how many providers would face the cuts was not available.
