CMS released four Microsoft Excel files that contain this information:
• Hospital Outpatient Payments for 61 Commonly Performed Procedures — This data set reflects facility costs and services associated with 61 commonly performed procedures. Service volumes and payment data are broken out nationally, by state, by county and by individual hospital.
• Other Hospital Outpatient Payments for 20 Commonly Performed Procedures —This data set includes services and payment rates for additional high utilization procedures in the hospital outpatient setting.
• Hospital Outpatient Payments for Medicare Preventive Services — This data set contains service volumes and Medicare payment data for preventive services rendered in a hospital outpatient department.
• The fourth file is an example of the hospital outpatient data.
CMS has made this cost and quality data available to all Americans since June 2006, when it released its 2005 payment data.
