LSU shifted healthcare services for the area’s poor and uninsured to Our Lady of the Lake in April after deciding to close Earl K. Long Medical Center, its former public hospital.
The approved Medicaid plan amendments mean that Our Lady of the Lake qualifies for a base payment of 95 percent of allowable Medicaid costs for inpatient services at a private acute-care hospital. Our Lady of the Lake is the only hospital in Baton Rouge that meets the criteria for that reimbursement rate, according to CMS.
