CMS accepts Skagit Valley Hospital's plan to correct deficiencies

CMS has accepted Skagit Valley Hospital's action plan to correct deficiencies that could cause the Mount Vernon, Wash.-based hospital to lose Medicare funding, according to the Skagit Valley Herald.

An inspection performed in May revealed the hospital's patient grievance process and other documenting procedures were not in compliance with Medicare requirements. The inspection also revealed deficiencies related to the hospital's emergency room triage process.

With the help of an outside consultant, Skagit Valley Hospital created an correction plan and submitted it to CMS July 15. With the correction plan accepted, hospital officials are awaiting an unscheduled follow-up inspection.
