CHS revenue broken down by payer

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems reported $3.1 billion in net operating revenue in the second quarter, with managed care comprising nearly 48 percent of revenue, according to financial documents published Aug. 3.

Payer mix by net patient service revenues for the quarter ended June 30:

Commercial: $1.5 billion (47.9 percent)

Medicare: $628 million (20.2 percent)

Medicare managed care: $522 million (16.7 percent)

Medicaid: $449 million (14.4 percent) 

Self-pay: $24 million (0.8 percent)

Payer mix by net patient service revenues for the six months ended June 30:

Commercial: $3 billion (47.6 percent)

Medicare: $1.3 billion (20.5 percent)

Medicare managed care: $1.1 billion (17.1 percent)

Medicaid: $872 million (14 percent)

Self-pay: $48 million (0.8 percent
