Lawyers representing Moses Taylor Health Care in Scranton, Pa., have requested a hearing regarding the system’s sale to for-profit Nashville, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, according to a Times Tribune report.
As of Tuesday, the attorney general’s office had not set a date for a public hearing regarding the sale. Moses Taylor officials hope for a hearing to be slated for early December.
Moses Taylor announced intentions to sell to CHS in July, pending regulatory review and approval. The deal also includes Moses Taylor’s affiliate, Mid-Valley Hospital in Peckville, Pa. As part of the sale agreement, CHS has promised to invest $60 million over five years for capital improvements.
