Working as an EMT allowed him to understand the clinical side of hospital operations, which has became a larger part of the hospital CFO role.
Before joining El Camino Hospital, Mr. King was CFO of Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va., where he used that clinical background to spur the medical staff toward the adoption of performance improvement metrics. He also increased RMH’s Medicare reimbursements and led several bond refinancings during its $300 million construction project a few years ago.
Mr. King also was CFO of Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center and has worked in different roles at Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, Fla., and health insurer Humana.
