The 25-bed critical access hospital closed after struggling to pay utilities, missing payroll and operating with insufficient supplies, according to local news station WIBW. It has since filed for bankruptcy.
Ty Compton, CEO of Horton Community Hospital, told KSNT that in addition to reopening, the hospital is working to get employees their paychecks. “The staff has had one paycheck since the first of February, and so on working with the Department of Labor, and with the bankruptcy courts, unemployment, things like that to try and help,” he said.
