Carilion Clinic’s Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences begins seeing 1st patients: 4 things to know

Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Clinic’s $32 million Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences officially opened this week.

Here are four things to know about the institute.

1. It is the first institute Carilion has launched.

2. The building was originally a 55,000 square-foot grocery store, but it has been completely renovated over the last two years.

3. The renovated 116,000 square-foot facility features 125 patient exam rooms, nine procedure rooms and capacity for eight diagnostic imaging rooms, seven of which are currently operational.

4. Officials said the overall goal with the institute is “to unite two complementary disciplines to benefit education, research and patient care.”
