Capital Health launches $10M neighborhood initiative

Trenton, N.J.-based Capital Health launched the Trenton Neighborhood Initiative to drive $10 million of investment in the greater wellbeing of the community in cooperation with the Trenton Health Team, according to a Sept. 21 news release.

Capital Health and its partners committed to a five-year, $10 million effort to create new opportunities and engagement with community residents. The Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation pledged the first leadership gift to the initiative with a donation of $2.5 million.

The Trenton Neighborhood Initiative addresses the social determinants of health for residents and aims to deliver solutions that complement healthcare services provided by Capital Health. The program focuses on providing support in home ownership, rehabilitation, job training, employment, digital equity, and healthy beginnings for children.

Al Maghazehe, president and CEO of Capital Health, said the organization's responsibility to the community extends beyond the hospital's walls.

"The health of our community is about much more, and I am committed to driving meaningful programs that will have an impact on the broader health and well-being of our neighbors," Mr. Maghazehe said.
