Here are five things to know.

1. The measure would dedicate $90 million in state funds over the course of five years to help homeless Medicaid enrollees pay rent, according to the report.

2. Those in favor of the measure told California Healthline the $90 million would fund all or part of the monthly rent for about 1,500 people at any given time during the five-year time period.

3. The measure aims to improve the health of homeless people on Medicaid, a population with high rates of illness. If approved, the measure could possibly save the state money by decreasing this population’s reliance on emergency care, according to the report.

4. The measure does not currently have registered opposition, reports California Healthline.

5. More than 29,000 people in California were chronically homeless as of 2015, according to data from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development cited in the report.
