The grant is given to hospital collaborations in rural, frontier or tribal areas that are working to reduce health inequity, according to a Sept. 13 news release from the foundation.

“This year’s recipient, the Better Birthing Coalition, was selected for its community-centered approach and its willingness to listen to and adapt systems-level policies and practices impacting Native birthing people,” the release said.

The Better Birthing Coalition was created to curate perinatal services for Native birthing people at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
