Rep. Camp is heading the charge to expand that requirement to all federal workers other than active-duty military members and postal workers, following an attempt last week by congressional Democrats who called for a “fix” to the mandate for federal workers to accept exchange-based coverage instead of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.
A spokeswoman for Rep. Camp said congressional supporters of the law should take the health insurance option, which they voted was “good enough for hardworking Americans and small businesses the law claims to help.” Democrats and federal employee unions claim the law does not intend to pull employees off employer-sponsored insurance.
