BuildMyBod launches price database for ASCs and other providers

BuildMyBod, an online marketplace where consumers can check out-of-pockets costs from physicians, radiology facilities or surgery centers, has a new service for the providers in the BuildMyBod network, according to a Cosmetic Surgery Times report.

The service, called the BuildMyBod Health Pricing Assistant, allows these providers to submit pricing details for their procedures or services to the BuildMyBod database. The providers are then instantly presented with the average prices for that same procedure or service across the nation, the provider's region, state and even within the provider's zip code, said Jonathan Kaplan, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon and creator of BuildMyBod.

After providers upload their pricing details for their procedures and services, they may also install the BuildMyBod Price Estimator onto their website. That way, Dr. Kaplan says, consumers interested in the cost of that provider's services can add procedures of interest to their "wishlist." When the consumer submits their wishlist, they must also enter their name, email address and phone number. Once submitted, the consumer receives an instant, automated email with a breakdown of the costs for their procedures of interest, specific to that physician or provider (downloaded from the database), according to Dr. Kaplan. At the same time, the healthcare provider receives the consumer's contact information for follow up, to help walk them through their facility.
