Here are four things to know about the issue.
1. Jose Marques, a consultant and broker with DBA Colmar Group, initially pitched the tax credit program to the board. Through the program, investors receive tax credit incentives for equity investments.
2. The board later agreed to contract with Mr. Marques to gather investors for the purchase of BMH through the New Markets Tax Credit Program at a sale price of $3 million, according to the report.
3. Any investors, if found, would purchase the hospital, hire a CEO and begin operations, the report notes.
4. The board’s decision to contract with Mr. Marques is the latest option for sale of BMH, which closed Nov. 16. Earlier this month, board members voted to discontinue negotiations with Houston-based Royce D. Brough Group for sale of the hospital.
