The hospital recorded net income of $7.1 million in the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2016. This is compared to a $328,000 net loss in the same period a year prior. BRRH also saw its operating income jump to $2.2 million in the second quarter of this year, up from $500,000 in the same period last year.
The hospital saw its second quarter operating revenue rise about 7.4 percent year over year to $121.4 million. The uptick is attributed to increases in patient volume, payment rate and reimbursement from a graduate medical education program BRRH operates with Baton Raton-based Florida Atlantic University, according to a South Florida Business Journal report.
The hospital’s total expenses in the second quarter increased about 6 percent to $119 million, up from $112 million recorded in the same period in FY 2016.
Total hospital discharges in the second quarter for BRRH increased 3.7 percent to 6,328. BRRH also saw inpatient admissions climb 6 percent to 4,655 visits, and visits to its BocaCare physician group grew 11 percent, according to the report.
