Although Gov. Brewer, a Republican, and others within her party have opposed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which requires health insurance exchanges, she said it would benefit the state to create its exchange with its own “free market” principles instead of having the federal government step in to design it, according to the report.
Officials at Gov. Brewer’s administration said Arizona will continue to challenge the constitutionality of the PPACA, but they said it makes sense to proceed with the exchange while the fate of the case is undecided.
