Beth Israel Lahey Health back in the black in Q1

Cambridge, Mass.-based Beth Israel Lahey Health recorded an operating income of $60.2 million (2.3% margin) in the first quarter of 2026, up from an operating loss of $2.7 million (-0.1% margin) during the same period last year, according to its Feb. 27 financial report. 

The system recorded total operating revenue of $2.6 billion for the three months ended Dec. 31, up from $2.4 billion during the same quarter last year. Net patient service revenue was $2 billion, up from $1.9 billion. Other revenue was $516 million, up from $421.7 million. 

Total operating expenses were $2.5 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up from $2.4 billion during the same period last year. Salaries and benefits totaled $1.4 billion, up from $1.3 billion. Supplies and other expenses were $977.1 million, up from $962.1 million.  

Beth Israel Lahey reported a net income of $104.8 million in the first quarter of 2026, up from $7.5 million during the same period last year.
