South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon Health System plans to take “several steps” to improve its financial position amid industry financial pressures, including “organizational changes focused primarily on administrative and operational areas,” a system spokesperson said in a Sept. 23 statement shared with Becker’s.
The spokesperson declined to confirm if these changes include layoffs or how many individuals will be affected.
“These are difficult but necessary decisions that will help us protect our ability to provide outstanding care and invest in the services our communities depend on,” the statement said. “We recognize the very real impact these decisions have on our colleagues. Beacon is committed to supporting affected associates and, wherever possible, helping them identify other opportunities within our health system.”
Beacon Health System comprises seven hospitals and 146 care sites, according to its website. It has more than 8,100 employees, more than 1,176 medical staff providers and 30 medical residents.
