Baylor Scott & White Health’s operating income up 25% in fiscal 2024

Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health posted an operating income of $1.2 billion (7.9% operating margin) in fiscal 2024, up from $982 million (7% operating margin)  posted in 2023, according to its Nov. 1 financial report.

The health system posted a total operating revenue of $15.5 billion for the year ended June 30, up from $13.9 million posted over the same period last year. Net patient care revenue totaled $12 billion, up from $11 billion in 2023. Premium revenue totaled $2.5 billion, up from $2 billion last year. 

Total operating expenses reached $14.3 billion in 2024, up from $13 billion in 2023. Salaries, wages and employee benefits totaled $6.6 billion, up from $6.2 billion last year. Supply costs totaled $2.5 billion, up from $2.3 billion in 2023. 

After accounting for nonoperating items, such as investment returns, Baylor posted a net profit of $2 billion in 2024, up from $1.5 billion in 2023.
