The move will make SCP Health responsible for the hospitalist program within Ascension Illinois’ acute care hospitals.

“This change will mean that Ascension Illinois will no longer directly employ our hospitalist clinical teams,” the spokesperson told Becker’s. “We continue to work with our hospitalists to make this a smooth transition.”

The spokesperson did not specify how many employees this would affect, but said the goal of this agreement is to continue to “deliver safe, high-quality care and an exceptional patient experience with no gaps in service.”

Additionally, the spokesperson stated that this decision was made after several months of evaluating several organizations.

SCP Health is headquartered in Atlanta.
