AMA Praises E-Prescribing Exemption Additions But Wants More Time

The American Medical Association has praised CMS’ changes to the e-prescribing program but is concerned physicians will not have sufficient time to comply with requirements, according to an AMA news release.

Cecil B. Wilson, MD, immediate past president of the AMA, wrote a statement expressing appreciation for CMS’ added flexibility in exemptions and the extended deadline for exemption applications. Dr. Wilson also said that the AMA is concerned physicians will be penalized for noncompliance because of the short reporting period.
