The donation will support the medical center’s pediatric emergency department, which is expected to open in summer 2018.
Mr. Taylor and singer-songwriter John Legend were scheduled to perform Friday at the Times Union Center to celebrate a $20 million renovation of the concert venue. A portion of the proceeds for the concert were intended to benefit the medical center. The concert venue’s management blamed Metropolitan Entertainment Consulting of New York City, the event promoter, for the cancellation, claiming the company was unable to pay the venue deposit. All tickets for the show will be refunded.
