Alaska House passes healthcare price transparency bill

Alaska lawmakers advanced a House bill calling for increased transparency of providers’ healthcare pricing, Alaska Dispatch News reports.

The bill passed the state’s House with a 34-6 vote Friday. Under House Bill 123, healthcare providers would be required to list prices for their most common procedures in their offices and online.

Alaska Rep. Ivy Spohnholz, D-Anchorage, authored the bill.

The measure will move to the Senate.
