Alaska hospital to close: 3 things to know

Sitka (Alaska) Community Hospital will close July 29, according to KTUU-TV.

Three things to know:

1. After Sitka Community Hospital closes, Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium will begin operating the facility.

2. SEARHC will offer a family clinic and long-term care, home health and physical therapy services at the facility, according to SEARHC’s website. Mountainside Urgent Care, formerly Sitka Medical Center Express Care Clinic, will also be open seven days a week.

3. Sitka Community Hospital will be integrated into Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center in Sitka. SEARHC said patients seeking hospital and emergency care should go to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center after Sitka Community Hospital closes July 29.
