The third quarter total was also 12 percent more than the $902,453 Aetna spent on lobbying in the second quarter of this year.
Aetna lobbied on several parts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, including the medical loss ratio provision and annual fees, according to the report.
In comparison, health insurers Cigna and Humana both decreased their federal lobbying efforts in the third quarter by 34 percent and 43 percent, respectively.
