Advocate Health’s operating income jumps 83% in first half of 2025

Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health recorded an operating income of $824.4 million (4.4% operating margin) in the first half of 2025, up from $449.9 million (2.7%) during the same period last year, according to its Aug. 29 financial report. 

The system reported total revenue of $18.8 billion for the six months ended June 30, up from $16.7 billion during the same period last year. Patient service revenue totaled $15.8 billion, up from $13.9 billion. 

Total operating expenses were $18 billion in the first half of 2025, up from $16.2 billion in the first half of 2024. Salaries, wages and benefits were $10.3 billion, up from $9.4 billion. Supplies and drugs were $4.2 billion, up from $3.6 billion. 

The system reported a net income of $2 billion in the first half of 2025, up from $1.3 billion during the same period last year.

Advocate Aurora Health

Revenue: $8.8 billion (+6.4% YOY)

Expenses: $8.5 billion (+6.6% YOY)

Operating income: $243.9 million (-2.3% YOY) 

Net income: $930.3 million (+43.5% YOY) 

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist

Revenue: $3.2 billion (+25.6% YOY) 

Expenses: $3 billion (+18.1% YOY) 

Operating income: $166.6 million (+1,014% YOY)

Net income: $255.7 million (+307.6% YOY)

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority Combined Group

Revenue: $5.6 billion (+19.2% YOY)

Expenses: $5.2 billion (+12.5% YOY)

Operating income: $398.5 million (451.7% YOY)

Net income: $779.6 million (+37.8% YOY)
